H. PYLORI TIED WITH SIDS
Scientists have uncovered a link between Helicobacter pylori
bacteria
and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). As part of the study,
investigators examined DNA from cells in the stomach, trachea
and lungs
of 32 SIDS victims. DNA was also harvested from 8 infants who
died from
causes other than SIDS.
Altogether, 88% of babies with SIDS were infected with H. pylori,
compared with 12.5% of infants without SIDS.
