PRE-SEASON TRAINING CUTS SOCCER INJURIES

Soccer season is in full swing, and with it comes injuries. Fortunately,
doctors can help young soccer stars prevent future injuries by
emphasizing the importance of pre-season conditioning, say researchers.

Investigators tracked 300 female soccer players for twelve months.
Subjects were aged 14 to 18 years. A total of 42 players participated in
a 7-week pre-season training program. These players were significantly
less likely to experience soccer-related injuries during the season,
compared with players who did not take part in the conditioning program.
