CAN VITAMIN C MAKE YOU SEE BETTER? An article in the Archives of Ophthalmology looks at the effects
of nutritional supplementation on eye health. For over 6 years, subjects, who
averaged in age from 55 to 80 years, took vitamins C and E, beta-carotene,
zinc and copper.
The study’s participants had significant eye conditions: vision loss,
pigment abnormalities, advanced age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and
noncentral geographic atrophy. Results showed that people with visual
problems, such as extensive drusen, noncentral geographic atrophy, AMD, or
vision loss due to AMD may benefit from supplementation.
