FOLIC ACID IMPORTANT FOR DADS, TOO Folic acid has been shown to prevent birth defects when taken by expectant mothers. Now, a new report reveals that the B vitamin is important for dads as well. It seems that folic acid may boost sperm count in men with reproductive problems. The study compared 24 healthy male non-smokers with an equal number of healthy male smokers. In both groups, low sperm density and low sperm count were associated with low non-methyltetrahydrofolate folic acid concentrations in seminal plasma.
